CHIEF TIM MOLNES SCHOLARSHIP GOLF TOURNAMENT

CHIEF TIM MOLNES SCHOLARSHIP GOLF TOURNAMENT STATEMENT OF PURPOSE Tim Molnes joined the Copperas Cove Police Department on January 7, 1980 and promoted through his career until reaching the position of Chief of Police in July of 1999. He dedicated his life to Copperas Cove until ending his fight with cancer fittingly on Memorial Day, May 30th of 2016. He not only held the title of Copperas Cove’s top community caretaker but also worked tirelessly at advancing the goals of the City. He had a passion for facilitating the growth and development of our youth. Tim’s passion was validated during his oversight of the Law Enforcement Explorer Program, which has become a model program for many other communities. In an effort to continue Tim’s legacy, the Chief Tim Molnes Scholarship Program has been created in his honor. Our goal will be to provide educational opportunities to those who have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to academics as well as dedicated service to the Copperas Cove community. This year will mark the third Chief Tim Molnes Scholarship Golf Tournament with the previous events being a huge success. The funds raised provided scholarships for six Copperas Cove seniors to help invest in their future and promote skills that will soon service their communities in a manner much like our beloved Chief. Tim was always full of life, enjoyed laughter, and many fell victim to his pranks. This tournament will bring the community together for fun and fellowship, which also serves as a perfect reflection of Tim and a tribute to his memory. Sponsors and donors contributing to this tournament will assist in funding scholarships to those students desiring to earn an undergraduate degree. Eligible recipients will include members of the Copperas Cove Law Enforcement Explorer Program and graduating seniors from Copperas Cove. We hope our community will continue to support us in this worthwhile event.
