WNBA star Brittney Griner’s appeal has been denied by a Russian court. The Phoenix Mercury star appeared via video and looked despondent at the ruling. She is now expected to be moved to a penal colony. Griner has been held in Russian detention since being stopped at a Russian airport in August for having a vape and fluid that had THC in it. U.S. authorities say she is being wrongfully detained. There is still hope that she and another U.S. being held there, Paul Whelan, will be part of a prisoner swap.
