SpaceX is prepping for launch of rocket carrying tribute to local teen

(KWTX) The SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket carrying a special tribute to Rhett Hering, the 15-year-old son of McGregor’s mayor whose death in an ATV accident in 2015 sparked the creation of a community-wide service project called the “Rhett Revolution,” is scheduled for launch Monday from NASA’S Kennedy Space Center.

The launch is scheduled to take place at 11:31am CST. You'll be able to watch it live at: http://www.spacex.com/webcast (It's recommended to begin viewing a little before.)

The Herings were given a private tour of NASA on Sunday by the SpaceX launch director, which included an unobstructed view of the Falcon 9 rocket with their son's message on board.

Today they will watch the launch from a private viewing area at the Kennedy Space Center.
