WATCH: Raqqa: IS 'capital' falls to US-backed Syrian forces

U.S. Back Forces Free Syrian City From ISIS-U.S.-backed forces are now in full control of the Syrian city of Raqqa after driving out ISIS.

The U.S.-backed alliance of Syrian Kurdish and Arab fighter says it has taken full control of what ISIS once called its capital. The city was used as a base for the group to plan attacks abroad. Forces have been fighting ISIS inside Raqqa since June.

A formal declaration of the city's liberation is expected to be made soon. The Popular Protection flag of the Kurdish militia was raised as people celebrated in a local stadium. Source: BBC
