MLB Suspends Joe Kelly Six Games, Tyler Austin Five For Brawl

things really heated up between the Yankees and Red Sox after a bench clearing brawl broke out between the two teams on Wednesday night.

And Major League Baseball reacted swiftly, as MLB chief baseball officer Joe Torre suspended Red Sox pitcher Joe Kelly for six games and fined him an undisclosed amount for intentionally hitting Tyler Austin in the seventh inning.

Austin, who retaliated by charging the mound was suspended five games.

Both players appealed their suspensions and will be available to play until their cases are heard.

MLB also fined Sox manager Alex Cora and Yankees third base coach Phil Nevin.

And get this, four players who were on the disabled list—Xander Bogaerts, Marco Hernandez and Dustin Pedroia of the Sox and Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia—also ran onto the field during the brawl and were also fined.

Guess their wallets are hurting now too.
