Police seize more than 7,000 pounds of fireworks from a Dallas home

Looks like they were planning on having a LIT Fourth of July!

Authorities seized more than 7,000 pounds of fireworks at a South Dallas home Tuesday morning.

Dallas police and the Dallas Fire Marshal's Office executed a search warrant on a home in the 1400 block of Ashview Circle, near Lake June Road, around 9:30 a.m. They reported finding 7,133 pounds of "consumer-grade" fireworks, which were taken to a secure Dallas Fire-Rescue location.

The fireworks — valued at more than $8,000 — will be disposed of by the police department's bomb squad and a third-party environmentally friendly company.
