After another down season for Bryant that saw him record only 838 receiving yards with six touchdowns, Aikman spoke about the harsh reality of Bryant’s performance.
“The Dez from 2017 I don’t think they will miss at all,” Aikman says. “No matter who they got coaching the receivers. I don’t think Dez was threat for most, if not all of last year. When you get one on one looks, no matter who you are as a receiver, that is what you are looking for as a quarterback. And if you can’t beat defenders one on one then you simply can’t play in the NFL.”
Aikman makes a valid point and at this time, Bryant remains unemployed in the NFL. The 29-year-old receiver seems to have lost a step after averaging fewer than 62-yards per game in his last three seasons playing in Dallas.
After meeting with the Cleveland Browns and turning down an offer to play with the Baltimore Ravens, Bryant now says he might wait to play later once the 2018 season gets underway. Time will tell if he still has any takers during the season.
