"Game Of Thrones" Costumes Are IKEA Made

Good news for all those planning on dressing up like "Game of Thrones" characters for Halloween. If you want the most authentic look, all you'll need to do is pop by IKEA.Michele Clapton, the HBO show's costume designer, admits she uses items from the furniture store to complete the look on the series.

The fur that Jon Snow and the Night Watch wear is actually IKEA rugs. After buying the carpets, the “GoT” team cuts, shaves, dyes and wears the rugs in so they looked suitably worn. As Michele puts it, "I want the audience to almost smell the costumes."

What's more, it turns out the "Game of Thrones" crew goes to IKEA for the same reason we all do: the price. "The budget is the same every year regardless of what we’re filming — it’s okay, but it’s never enough,” Clapton adds. “Sometimes if you’re restricted it makes you more clever about what you’re doing. You can look at things, you can reuse things.”

Whatever she's doing is working. Michele is up for three Emmys for her work on "Game of Thrones."
