The University of Texas campus in Austin is looking out for low-income students. The University of Texas System Board of Regents just voted to create a $160-million endowment for financial assistance that will cover tuition for students whose families make less than $65,000 a year. Starting in fall 2020, they’ll be able to go to the college without worrying about tuition.
The school reports this initiative will cover about 8,600 undergraduate students. The University of Texas system has an impressive endowment, which stands at $31-billion and is the second largest, only behind Harvard’s, according to a Bloomberg report.
