Dave Grohl Pens Essay About Missing Live Music

For his piece, theFoo Fightersfrontman pays tribute to live music, recalling some of his favorite concerts and commenting on where he sees live music heading in the uncertain future.

Grohl remembers some of the concerts he’s been to that impacted him the most, likeU2’sintimate gig during their 2001 “Elevation Tour.” He also recalls the timeBruce Springsteenattended a Foos concert, later writing to Grohl on hotel stationary about the importance of the band-audience relationship.”

“Don’t get me wrong, I know that those of us who don’t have to work in hospitals or deliver packages are the lucky ones,” he writes. “But still, I’m hungry for a pig old plate of sweaty, ear-shredding, live rock and roll, ASAP.”
