Mark Hoppus Reacts After Watching Blink-182 Documentary For First Time

In 2003 to promote blink-182's self-titled album, MTV released a documentary about the band recording the record.

As it turns out, Mark Hoppus has never seen the doc until now. On a new Twitch live stream, Hoppus watched the documentary for the first time and gave his unfiltered opinions about it.

“I didn't know about it, so I'm going to watch it today and I'm going to tell you what's right and what's wrong about it and memories,” he told fans. “We're going to have a great time.”

For the most part at the beginning of the documentary, Hoppus has a huge smile plastered on his face and he couldn't help but to laugh at the footage that was shown.

As promised, Hoppus revealed some memories from recording and one has to do with how the iconic “Get ready for action!” bit made it into the beginning of “Feeling This.”

The bassist explained that he got to the studio before anyone else and had the engineer show him how to use ProTools. He started playing a random rhythm on bass and a drum beat got programmed to it. Then, Hoppus started messing around on drummer Travis Barker's turntables and it ended up working out.

“I started going through his samples and found that 'action' thing and [I was] messing around and that's how 'Feeling This' started,” he revealed.

Also in his reaction video, Hoppus referenced blink's unreleased song “Punk Kid” which didn't make it onto the self-titled album. He even grabbed a guitar to play a snippet.

During the section when the band is writing “I Miss You,” Hoppus paused the video to explain how it came together and what changed from the song we all know and love.

“Tom brought in the original idea for the song and the verses were the same but when it got to the chorus, instead of picking up the pace… it felt like there wasn't a proper chorus,” he said. “So I came up with the bass line and Tom was trying to write a guitar part over the bass line.. So what you just saw is when we lost the old chorus and wrote the new chorus.”
