Audible Original’s “Words + Music” has a new artist participating. Beck called his musical narrative “Dear Life” and re-recorded “Loser” and “Where It’s At” for the project.
He also talks about something he regrets. According to the rocker, “Weird Al” Yankovic wanted to do a parody of “Loser” and Beck said no. “It was going to be called ‘Schmoozer,’” he said, adding, “I regret denying him permission to do it. I think it would have been an amazing video. I’m actually really sad it didn’t happen.”
So why did he say no? Because reviewers at the start of his career called him a “one-hit wonder” or “novelty act.”
