Last week, Cheyenne Campbell, who works at Second Chance Shelter in Boaz, Alabama, was unexpectedly reunited with her dog Emma who’d been missing for five months. The three-year-old pup immediately recognized Campbell and ran into her arms, licking her face and wagging her tail with excitement when she entered the room.
Emma had gone missing in September after being let outside to use the bathroom. Campbell and her family were devastated by the loss and searched for months with no luck. A good Samaritan, who only lives about 10 miles from the Campbell’s home, had found Emma and tried for months to locate her family before finally bringing her to the shelter.
Second Chance Shelter shared the emotional reunion in a social media post, expressing joy that Emma was safe and had been reunited with her family. The shelter staff writes in their post that the pup got very excited when she heard Cheyenne's voice, "wagging her tail and jumping" behind the counter.
