The holiday is the top day of the year for pets to go missing…which is devastating to all involved. Here’s how to keep your pet safe at home during the celebrations:
- Keep your pets inside your home. Animals in a panic can easily escape and run off
- Create a quiet comfort space for pets with their favorite bed, blankets and toys
- Use white noise, calming sprays, calming chews or anxiety shirts to help pets feel more secure
- Cover the windows in their room
- Doors, windows and screens should be secured before fireworks begin
- Give pets a long walk, play session or mental stimulation earlier in the day so they are more relaxed
- If your pet has high anxiety regularly, reach out to your vet ahead of the holiday for a treatment plan
I have created a safe cave like environment for my Malinois X who is very sensitive to the SpaceX rockets, loud fireworks, and thunder with the biggest dog crate available covered in blankets on the sides top and back that stays open that she can get in and make her feel safe. It helps a lot.
